The library is the cornerstone of the institution. The Chandigarh Judicial Academy Library’s mission is to cater to the information, research, and academic needs of its faculty, trainee judicial officers, and other participants by offering a broad and varied collection of legal resources and materials. Chandigarh Judicial Academy Library, a veritable treasure trove of distinguished books and periodicals, boasts a collection of over 20,000 volumes, all available for open access. Its extensive collection spans a wide array of subjects, including law, general literature, and various other disciplines, making it a comprehensive resource for all those engaged in legal education and research. The Library of the Chandigarh Judicial Academy serves as the intellectual resource for newly appointed judicial officers from the states of Punjab, Haryana, and UT Chandigarh. Acting as the Academy's "Reference and Research" wing, the library is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive collection of decided case files from various session divisions across Punjab, Haryana, and UT Chandigarh, which are essential for the training of judicial officers at the Academy.
The Chandigarh Judicial Academy, established in 2006, also inaugurated its library in the same year as a vital resource for its operations. The library was set up to provide essential legal literature and research materials to support the academic and professional needs of newly appointed judicial officers, faculty members, and the staff of the Academy. It houses a vast collection of legal texts, case law, and reference materials to facilitate the learning and development of judicial officers during their training. Additionally, the Academy has dedicated a separate "Library-cum-Reading Room" specifically for the Trainee Judicial Officers, providing them with a quiet and resourceful space for study and research. This facility is crucial in helping them build a solid foundation in legal knowledge and judicial practices, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles in the judiciary.
The library staff at the Chandigarh Judicial Academy is always prompt and attentive in meeting the needs of the Trainee Judicial Officers, faculty members, and Hon'ble Judges. They ensure that requested books, judgments, topic-specific materials, and other resources are made available without delay. The application of Information Technology to provide fast, research-driven and efficient information services has been a key focus for the Academy Library. In addition to this, the library provides access to Bare Acts for quick reference by the Trainee Judicial Officers, and offers valuable information to faculty members and authorities through the internet and the databases subscribed to by the library. A comprehensive list of books, including all central and state-specific Bare Acts, is readily available to meet the varying needs of both judicial officers and faculty members at different levels.
