The Training and development of the workforce has a significant bearing upon the growth of an Institution. Improvement in the Justice Delivery System requires concerted effort not only from the Judicial Officers and lawyers but also from the court staff, who form an integral part thereof. With the advent of technology in the Judicial processes, the increase in litigation, recruitment of new staff, the endeavour of the Chandigarh Judicial Academy is to conduct regular training programs for newly inducted as well as in-service Ministerial Staff of the District Courts with the following objectives:
- To inculcate the importance of their roles in dispensation of Justice;
- To sharpen the skills of the Ministerial Staff;
- To familiarize them with the rules and regulations and the working of the courts.
The District Courts at Punjab, Haryana and UT Chandigarh employ about 13,000 staff, out of which more than 9,000 are employed in Class-II and Class-III posts. Since the aim of the training is to familiarize them with the day to day functioning of the courts, the courses have been designed in such a way so as to cater their needs and thereby covering all aspects and nuances of each and every domain of the ministerial staff in the District Judiciary.
The Refresher Courses have been designed in the following manner:
- Staff with upto 5 years’ service including newly inducted: First Phase
- Staff with upto 10 years service: Second Phase
- Remaining staff in service: Third Phase
That apart, the courses have been designed to prepare the pool of trainers amongst the Ministerial Staff and Judicial Officers who further trains as well as mentor the ministerial staff in the respective sessions divisions.
